Driverless Cars Will Enable the Blind to Drive

Three states have already legalized the use of driverless cars, Nevada, Florida and California.
Here in the District of Columbia, legalization is currently in the works.
This technology is relatively new, but the benefits are huge for people with disabilities.
Imagine going through life having to be dependent on others to drive you around?
Driverless cars are a huge step towards giving these individuals the freedom of their own transportation.
I can't wait to see them here in DC!

Four teenage girls, Duro-Aina Adebola (14 years old), Akindele Abiola (14 years old), Faleke Oluwatoyin (14 years old), and Bello Eniola (15 years old), have created a device that turns your pee into electricity.
They presented their "Urine Powered Generator" at the Maker Faire Africa in Lagos this year.

Gargoyles

It is very common to see gargoyles on Cathedrals. They became very popular in the Middle Ages. The main purpose was to scare away evil spirits, but they were also used as a gutter system.

Puzzles on a Mission

London based artist, Angeli Patel, designed these neat animal shaped puzzles with a unique twist.
Underneath each puzzle piece there is an undesirable fact about the meat industry.
Angeli is hoping that this information will lead children to the benefits of eating less meat and potentially open their minds to choosing a vegetarian lifestyle.
This would have freaked me out when I was a kid for sure!

Japan's Capsule Hotels: Just Enough Space For One

In 1979, the very first capsule hotel was opened in Japan, providing a tiny little space for travelers to sleep.
A typical capsule hotel provides each guest a capsule that is almost 7 feet long and 4 feet wide.
When you check into the "hotel", your luggage is placed in a locker and you are provided a yukata gown and slippers to sleep in.
Most of these capsules have WiFi and a television for your entertainment.
Renting a capsule can cost anywhere from $25-$50 per night.

'Tis the Season for Pumpkin Chucking

Pumpkin chucking is all the rage these days.
This fall activity is growing in a competitive capacity each and every year.
Teams of people group together to build catapult, trebuchets, ballistas, and air cannons to launch pumpkins with great distance and accuracy.
There are even farmers that are growing pumpkins just for chucking!

Washing clothes by hand takes up a lot of this water. Check out this incredible invention that helps the people of Peru.

The Busycle: A Creative Experiment

The Busycle was built by artists Heather Clark and Matthew Mazzotta with the help of over 60 volunteers back in the summer of 2005.

This vehicle is essentially a "15-person pedal-powered bus." There is no engine and it runs on power created by the pedaling.
This incredible bus was created almost entirely out of recycled and found materials.
The main structure is a stripped down 15 passenger van, but all types of materials were added during construction.
Keep yours eyes open for the Busycle as she continues to tour the nation!
