"Real Cowboys Ride Motorbikes" I'm loving this photo of a Mongolian horse herder using a moped to round up and move the horses. It's cool to see just a touch of the modern world in a place where so much is done the old fashion way. Great photo! Nadia Hassan's dinosaur tree could be put in a child's bedroom. What do you think about the non-traditional Christmas tree? During the winter, these guys fly south, sometimes as far south as Central America. Once Spring hits, the pelicans gather together in large groups and head north, all the way up to Montana and Southern Canada. That means people have an opportunity to spot a pelican in every state in between. Often, people are shocked to see these birds. The pelicans have wingspans up 9 feet wide! The American White Pelican is a sight to see, especially in the middle of Oklahoma! They presented their "Urine Powered Generator" at the Maker Faire Africa in Lagos this year. Their machine can transform 1 liter of human urine into 6 hours of electricity. How amazing are these young intelligent women?? Source posted by Michelle Statue of Liberty Imitations I absolutely love the Statue of Liberty...apparently I'm not the only one. There are literally thousands of Lady Liberty statues all over the globe! Here are a few of my favorites... Source posted by Michelle Will Anyone Run Against George Washington? The very first presidential election was not quite as sophisticated or complicated as our elections are today. There were no billion dollar campaigns or generator operated electronic voting booths; in fact, there weren't even two people running for President! The year was 1788 and everyone sort of just assumed that George Washington should be the first president. The only thing that was really decided by the 69 electors was who the Vice President would be. Each elector got two votes and everybody voted for Washington, so he became the President. John Adams received the second most votes, a total of 34, so he became Vice President. Imagine that, the person with the most votes became president and the person who came in second place became Vice President. Interesting. Elections continued like this until the passing of the Twelfth Amendment in 1804. Source posted by Michelle |
