Imagine If Your Art Teacher Dressed Up Like Starry Night How awesome is this? Mad props to Jessica Vodnik for thinking up this clever costume! Source posted by Michelle Add Comment Plant a Tree, Plant Many Trees Sometimes I get overwhelmed thinking about global warming. It's hard to think about what I can do in my daily life to effect such a huge problem. The general rule of thumb is use as little energy as possible and to use resources wisely. But, we can also help fight global warming by planting trees. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and part of the problem with Earth right now is that there is too much carbon dioxide. "A single tree will absorb approximately one ton of carbon dioxide during its lifetime." If there is an empty space in your yard...plant a tree! Encourage everyone to plant a tree. We need to turn our communities into forests again. Source posted by Michelle Don't Ask Me How He Did It, But He Did The artist known as Brusspup has the whole world googling the words: "anamorphic illusions." Even after my search, I'm still left struggling with understanding exactly how he created these illusions. I'm on a mission to figure out exactly how he pulled this off! Now I just need to start practicing! Source posted by Michelle Simple Puppet Project With a Twist Polish artist Magda Bielecka created these cool bendable puppets and decorated them using old clothes she had laying around. Seems like a perfect art lesson to me! Think of the possibilities! You could have the students create puppets specific to a particular time period, event, or just invented out of pure imagination. Source posted by Michelle Cardboard Masks From Costa Rica Costa Rican artist Xiomara Blanco's incredible cardboard masks are the perfect inspiration for all art teachers. Cardboard is one of the best materials to use in the classroom; it's free, easy to use, and durable. How much would you have loved to make one of these when you were a kid? Students could study and create famous people, interesting animals, or just design one straight out of their imaginations. Source posted by Michelle Awesome Dancing is Always Fun to Watch Here's a video of Brian Gaynor when he was 23 years old auditioning for the show So You Think You Can Dance a few years ago. Brian is from Kennesaw, Georgia and he got quite famous for this audition where he dances to the song "Fireflies." How the hedoes he do this? Source posted by Michelle Contortion: An Unusual Art Form Contortionism comes naturally to nobody; people are not born with the ability to bend their bodies in half. In reality, some people are born with a little extra flexibility than others and those people can train to become contortionists. In order to gain the flexibility needed, these individuals must put themselves through demanding and painful training. Source posted by Michelle Deep Fried Twinkie Twinkie sales are down with each passing year, which some may say is a good thing because these tasty treats are definitely not nutritionally good for you. To be honest, I haven't had a Twinkie in years, but I would totally break my diet for the chance to try a deep-fried Twinkie. These tasty treats are extremely popular at The Texas State Fair and are rapidly spreading to other fairs across the nation. Anyone ever try one? Source posted by Michelle |
