First Photo of a President Ever Taken
Taken in 1843, this photograph of John Quincy Adams is the earliest confirmed photograph of an American President.
1843 was a big year in the development of photography as a reliable technique.
For many years, inventors could create an image, but the image would fade within 30 minutes.
The biggest breakthrough came about in 1837, when Louis Daguerre created the first daguerreotype and the image did not fade.
This technology spread like crazy and 6 years later, we have the first photo of the President of the United States.
