She was last heard from on July 2, 1937, during her flight around the world.
Flying was much more dangerous in the 1930's than it is today.
During her final flight, Amelia and her navigator, Fred Noonan, disappeared over the Pacific Ocean near Howland Island.
She could be heard over radio by a boat, but for some reason they couldn't communicate back to her.
