Street Art Sanctuary at Risk for Demolition

5Pointz, an old abandoned factory in Queens, is one of New York City's greatest and most interesting attractions.
Graffiti artist have been tagging (painting graffiti) this building legally for the last 20 years, the entire thing is covered in beautiful works of art.
Sadly, this building is scheduled for demolition in 2013 and is to replaced by a luxury high-rise apartment complex.

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be much chance of saving the building.
Many artists and culture lovers are super bummed about the demolition of this unorthodox "art gallery" being trashed as if it had no value.

This building is AWESOME....it's super sad that they are tearing it down...and there is really nothing much at all that we can do about it. That being said...it is still standing and will be up until the spring...so if your anywhere near NYC...GO SEE IT!!!!

They should not tear it down, everyone loves it, Why tear down a place that people enjoy going to? It is also a way for artists who may not be famous to show their art in public.
