An Oglala Lakota Warrior Crazy Horse, as in "Your Horse is Crazy," is one true hero and a symbol of courage in the Native American Culture. He was the leader of the Oglala Lakota people in the 1800's. He fought against the federal government when they tried taking land from his people. He was fatally wounded while resisting imprisonment in the Battle of Little Bighorn. In honor of Crazy Horse, a monument was built on Thunderhead Mountain in the Black Hills of South Dakota just 17 miles from Mount Rushmore. The blasting for this monument began in 1948 and is currently under construction. When completed, this could be the world's largest sculpture. The Federal Government offered The Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation $10 million to help build this scultpture, but the donation was turned down in fear of the government taking it over.
