Humpty Dumpty Was Not an Egg

All of us know the famous nursery rhyme...

"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again."

Humpty Dumpty was actually the name of a large cannon they used in the English Civil War (1642-1649).
At the time, the Royalist protected the town of Colchester by building a large wall around the city to protect the castle and churches.
Humpty Dumpty was a cannon that they placed on the wall to scare off the Parliamentarians.
The Parliamentarians damaged the wall under Humpty, causing it to fall. All of the king's men tried lifting it back on a different part of the wall, but it was too heavy.
Poor Humpty didn't make it!
