Teachers in Chicago Go On Strike
Chicago Public School teachers went on strike today.
That means that 350,000 students got the day off school today, and probably tomorrow, and the day after that.
This is the first public school strike in Chicago in over 25 years, the last strike lasted 19 days back in 1987.
Teachers are fighting for promised raises, smaller class sizes, and more support staff.
90% of unionized teachers voted to authorize a strike if necessary...I guess it became necessary.
