The San Francisco Bay Salt Ponds

What the heck is a salt pond you may ask?

I just learned about them. They are these huge shallow man-made ponds designed to produce salts from sea water.
Basically, a bunch of seawater is let into the pond. As the water evaporates, only the salt is left.
These salt ponds are also super colorful. This color comes from microorganisms living in the water.
The color depends on the salinity (how salty) the water is.

How beautiful are these ponds from the sky looking down?
