In 1978, when Tomohiro Nishikado released an arcade game named Space Invaders, he had no idea it was going to make so much money. Just after a few months it became very popular.
In the first year, the game made over $600 million just in Japan. He started selling the machines to the United States and Japan at $2,000-$3,000 a pop.
The overall net profit for the game was $450 million. This video game became the best selling entertainment game of all time.
