Save the Coral Reef
When the United States built the Panama Canal, they had no idea that building it above sea level was going to save the coral reef in the Caribbean. If they had built it at sea level, the sea life on the Pacific Coast would have had easy access to the coral reef in the Atlantic Ocean and it would have been destroyed. Luckily, this did not happen.
Coral reefs are extremely important to us. Not only do they provide habitats, carbon dioxide, and protection to the land from currents, but it is also used for medications like painkillers and anticancer drugs.
Those are just a few of the benefits from coral reefs. I am sure they are going to find a million more benefits from coral reef in the future.
Unfortunately, half of the Great Barrier Reef has disappeared in the last 27 years. If we do not act fast, a quarter more could be lost in the next ten years.
This could be disastrous to the earth!
