Emma Cotter is a master of creating beautiful works of art from old bottle caps.
She is making quite a name for herself in the world of "upcycled art." She recently became a finalist for
Martha Stewart's American Made Competition (see her entry here).
I asked Emma to give the rest of us some advice on creating upcycled art.
She said, "I often save items for a very long time before I find a use for them, but as I work out of a fairly small apartment, I have to be crafty about organizing potential 'art supplies.' Usually I attempt to control such items by storing them neatly in clear, stackable bins which I keep in plain sight (rather than tucking away in a closet) because I am more likely to have a creative epiphany when forced to see them daily. They also become conversation pieces when I have visitors and new ideas begin to form in the process!"
