An Artist that can't see colors, but can hear them!
Neil Harbisson can only see black and white.
He did not figure this out until he was 11 years old when he was diagnosed with achromastopsia (a rare vision disorder). He always thought that he would just get colors confused.
When Neil was 16, he decided to go to art school in hope that he would understand color. His art teacher thought that it was a waste of time and thought he was crazy.
Neil stayed in the class and completed his work in a greyscale and studied how people learned color through sound.
When Neil was in college he attended a lecture and found out that a man named Adam Mantandon created a device that could transform color into sound. The devices was made up of a webcam, a computer and a pair of headphones.
Neil wears this devices everywhere. It helps him with his art tremendously.
Neil loves to do portraits and this devices helps him hear the colors of a person's characteristics.
