In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean there is a small island named St. Helena.
It is on this very island where these freakishly long steps, called Jacob's Ladder, exists.
This staircase has a total of 699 steps, stretching up over 600 feet.
It was built in 1829 to connect the town of Jamestown to an old fort that used to be on top of the hill.
People would haul manure up the steps, and bring shipped goods down the steps into the town.
People travel from all over the world to check out this interesting relic from our past.
