The Bathing Machine
In the 18th and 19th centuries, it was improper to walk around in a bathing suit on the beach.
However, people still enjoyed swimming and wading in the water.
The Bathing Machine allowed people to change out of their clothes and into their swimwear.
After the person spent some time in the water, he or she would change back into their clothes.
Often these carts were rolled right into the sea.
