The Victorian era was the period of Queen Victoria's reign from 20 June 1837 until her death on 22 January 1901. Photography was kind of new back then. Taking photos during the winter presented significant challenges. The chemicals used to develop the film would freeze and not work properly. Therefore, many photographers created artificial winters in the studio. Fake snow and winter props were often used to create these funny blistery scenes. These photos are from The American Museum Of Photography.
