The Power Of Pee
Researchers from the University of Bristol in England have recently released some very exciting news.
The believe that the future of energy is in our pee!
These scientists have developed a fuel cell that uses urine (pee) to generate electricity.
At a time when the whole world is desperate for new energy sources, this finding is very hopeful.
They've named this project urine-tricity.
Basically, they have been adding bacteria to urine in a way that generates energy.
Now, this process produces a very tiny bit of power.
One cell will produce enough power to run a hear aid.
This concept is still being developed, of course.
However, the good news is that pee is everywhere!
It's estimated that humans produce 6.4 trillion liters of pee a year.
Pee collection is another issue.
The scientist have developed a special toilet that can separate your pee from...well...your other stuff.
However, it would take a long time to get everyone to switch out their toilets.
It's also unclear how expensive this energy will cost to develop.
Price is always an important issue when talking about energy.
Hip Hip Hooray for Pee!!
