Turns out these beautiful creatures aren't just cute, but they also have big giant useful brains.
The first freakishly smart thing about dolphins is that they are able to look in a mirror and know they are looking at their reflection; most creatures on Earth cannot do that.
Oh, and apparently they can also understand the concept of the number "zero."
I have no idea in the world how they test for stuff like that.
New information is now leading scientists to believe that dolphins are able to do "complex 'nonlinear' math calculations."
It's not entirely clear if they know they are doing "math," but dolphins are capable of swimming through a bunch of bubbles while using sonar to see at the same time which requires the brain to calculate some extremely complicated math.
Human technology, such as underwater sonars, gets blinded by too many bubbles and we would love to be able to be more like the dolphins!
Kind of interesting....right?
