Richie Stachowski was only 11 years old when he was inspired to create his first invention.
While on vacation with his family in Hawaii (lucky kid), he found himself frustrated that he couldn't talk to his dad when they were snorkeling.
He immediately began drawing up designs for an underwater megaphone.
When he returned home he spent $267 of his own money to build a prototype of his invention.
He then presented his idea to Toys "R" Us and they bought it!
He also sold his "Water Talkies" to K-Mart and Walmart.
Richie's little idea had earned him $500,000 by the end of that summer in 1997.
