How Many of These Machines Do You Think They Made?

This is the description posted with this video:
"A mechanical singing bird mechanism. Made around 120 years ago in Paris, probably by Bontems. In the film I hope you can identify all the major parts and see them working together to make the sound. The mechanism was in a rusted and seized state and has been restored. Surpisingly the bellows are in good original condition."

How awesome is that?

Hug Me
What would you do for a free coke? Would you Hug a vending machine? In Singapore, there is a machine that is programmed to release a coke with just a hug.
This is a part of new marketing project called "open Happiness."  The goal is to make more people smile.
It looks like it works! There are plans to put up more machines around Asia.

Art Made From Nature: Patrick Dougherty

 "Lean on Me"

Patrick Dougherty is quite the artist. He makes sculptures out of tree saplings. It usually takes him and a group of volunteers about three weeks to gather up material from the environment and build these structures. Since everything is from the environment, the material usually breaks down after awhile and returns to the earth.
Patrick has made over 200 of these Stickwork projects throughout his 25 year career. When he first began this line of work, he built his own home for his family in North Carolina using the resources from the land. His work is quite impressive.

Make Something New For Your Home

What a creative idea. Renee Safarians created a light fixture using plastic spoons. She calls it "Building Blue Daisy."  This looks pretty simple to make. Give it a shot!
