A new water sport!
People have been playing checkers for years.
Now, divers in Janeda, Estonia are playing checkers underwater.
This is the third year for the national competition.
A local diving company was trying to keep divers interested in practicing the sport in a swimming pool during the cold, winter months.
Some of the divers say that it is so hard to stay in one position underwater so they wear belts.
The board is strapped down and the pieces are made from lead. Every contestant plays seven, six minute games.
Whoever wins the most, is the campion.
