The Titanic Orphans
Michel and Edmond Navratil were the only children rescued from the Titanic without a parent or guardian.
The siblings were only 4 and 2 years old and spoke no English.
They were temporarily named Louis and Lola when they were first found.
Apparently, their dad placed Michel and Edmond in the last available life boat to leave the ship.
He left them with a message, “My child, when your mother comes for you, as she surely will, tell her that I loved her dearly and still do. Tell her I expected her to follow us, so that we might all live happily together in the peace and freedom of the New World.”
The bottom photo was taken with their mom, Marcelle, when she was reunited with her boys in NYC on May 16, 1912.
