Skateboarding in the 1960's
Skateboarding was invented in the 1950's.
California surfers wanted to try surfing on the streets...boom...the skateboard was invented.
In 1963, skateboarding was at a peak of popularity.
There were two types of skateboarding, downhill or freestyle.
By the end of the 1960's skateboarding was no longer that cool.
Many people believed that it was just a fad.
In the 1970's the skateboard was redesigned with urethane wheels, and the sport picked up in popularity again.
